This fly fishing trip is based in Central Pennsylvania and is being run in conjunction with Outcast Anglers Guide Service. Geographically, this part of the state is home to many of the iconic limestone and freestone streams often referred to in fly fishing literature. More specifically, angling efforts will be focused on Spring Creek, Big Fishing Creek, Penns Creek, the Little Juniata River, and lesser known (but equally productive) trout streams in the area.
Late May and early June offer a variety of angling options in the area. Multiple species of mayflies, caddisflies, and stoneflies are active and prevalent, providing a wide forage base for resident brown, brook, and rainbow trout. The timing of this trip gives anglers a great opportunity to fish the Eastern Green Drake hatch that occurs on Big Fishing Creek and Penns Creek. In addition, anglers can expect to witness emerging Slate Drakes, Sulphurs, Caddis, Craneflies, and Light Cahills.
This trip offers the opportunity to target wild fish under a variety of conditions and circumstances. While anglers of all skill sets are welcomed, those looking to sign up for the trip should place an importance on education – polishing existing skill sets and being exposed to new techniques that can be added to one’s angling arsenal.
The local guide staff is led by Lance Wilt. Lance is the owner and operator of Outcast Anglers. His professional experiences span multiple continents, including serving as the 2011 Head Coach of the United States Youth Fly Fishing Team- Gold Medalists in international competition.
Trip Format:
3 days of guided fishing / 3 nights of lodging. All meals, flies, rods, reels, lines and terminal tackle are provided.
